For the first time, the United Nations is recognizing the bicycle as a celebratory-worthy form of transportation. So much so that they’ve dedicated June 3rd to be World Bicycle Day. The union stated the “uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation, fostering environmental stewardship and health,” as primary reasons to adopt this day as an annual day to promote the world’s most wonderful form of transportation.
At Kona, we are proud to offer bikes to carry riders distances near and far, over pavement, mountains, gravel or dirt. We are thrilled the bicycle is finally getting it’s’ very own day and hope you’ll take a spin on your favorite bike this Sunday, June 3rd, in honor of the bicycle.
