Some eagle eyed Kona and EWS fans may have been lucky enough to get a bit of an advanced look at one of our 2020 Process frame colours this year. Kona Gravity Team rider Shelly Flood has been rolling on this seriously rad Process 153 CR DL 27.5 for a wee while now and turning heads in the process. “Lil Acid” is built with a mixture of Kona Gravity Team kit as well as a few parts from her personal sponsors, we are sure you’ll agree that the resulting build is something pretty damn awesome.

SRAM carbon XO cranks and a 34t chainring propel “Lil Acid” while a OneUp upper guide ads a little extra security.

Out back you’ll find a matching SRAM XO rear derailleur and an XO Eagle cassette.

Rock Shox Lyrik Ultimates handle suspension duties up front.

While a Rock Shox Super Deluxe looks after the rear.

Deity is a saddle sponsor for the rest of the Kona Enduro Team, but Shelly also runs their bar and stem too. The bar is the 25mm rise Skywire and the stem is the Copperhead.

All of the Kona Gravity Team sport OneUp’s EDC tools on their enduro and trail bikes. Oh yeah and that is a Chris King stem.

Are there any other brakes? SRAM’s Code RSC’s provide all the stopping you could ever require. From the burly lever…

…down to the solid AF callipers, SRAMs new Codes tick all the boxes!

And what Dream Build would be complete without some Chris King hubs.

Seat collars are small things, but Deity make them rad.

Coming from Aussie, Shelly’s build takes full advantage of the ability to route both brake and dropper cables around the drive side of the head tube.

Deity’s Black Kat pedals wrap up Shelly’s Dream Build.

Cross is Coming…Jakes are HERE!

The Jake series has a long heritage with Kona. It’s taken top steps at UCI cyclocross races. It’s crossed continents on epic expeditions. It’s the bike that made us rethink what was possible on two wheels. It’s as at home in sandpits, off-camber tracks, and steep, punchy climbs as it is on big gravel grinds and singletrack missions. With both carbon and aluminum frames, fender mounts, internal cable routing, hydraulic disc brakes, tubeless-ready tires, flat mount disc brakes, and thru-axles, the Jake is ready to race, rally, or explore the less-ridden path.

Major Jake

The Major Jake is the perfect bike for the serious racer that is still looking for something they can take on long cross-training rides. The full carbon frame and fork make light work of climbs and punchy, steep obstacles. 700x33c Maxxis All Terrane tires, SRAM Rival 1x drivetrain, and hydraulic disc brakes make this bike race-ready right out of the box.

Jake the Snake

The working man’s privateer steed, the Jake the Snake is the go-to bike for Cyclocross racers and hard-core commuters alike. The legendary Jake the Snake features race-driven geometry in a tough yet light aluminum frame and a full carbon flat mount disc fork and is accompanied by tubeless-ready wheels wrapped with Maxxis All Terrane tires, a SRAM Apex 1×11 drivetrain, and TRP hydraulic disc brakes.

Kona Dealer Launch: New Bikes, All the Trails, and Tons of Shenanigans

The 2020 North American Dealer Launch was one for the books. Over the course of five days, around 300 dealers converged on our hometown of Bellingham, Washington. Dealers were treated to delicious food from some of our best local caterers, views of the ocean and the mountains, tons of ridiculous games (Human Hungry Hungry Hippos, anyone?), a rock show, and most of all…ALL THE NEW BIKES!

I want to commend everyone at Kona for all that they did to make us dealers feel special and appreciated. Just as you pay attention to the details on the bikes, you paid attention to the details of caring for your dealers. From the “Fun XC Ride”, to the serving of beer and wine by the accounting department, to someone walking through the crowd of Frisbee and corn hole competitors offering them dessert cookies, to the breakfast bags for us departing dealers on Saturday morning; everyone at Kona did an amazing job of putting on a great product launch that made all of us dealers feel special and appreciated. Please pass on my thanks and appreciation to Jake and everyone at Kona Bikes, you guys really rock! Ron Brunk, Glacier Cyclery – Whitefish, Montana

You ever wonder why Kona name bikes like “Jake The Snake” “Dewey” “Paddy Wagon”? They’re named after folks in the Kona family. For the last few days I got to visit this family, and to a degree… I became a part of it. Never have I been surrounded by a mass of people who think about bikes the way I do. This family embraces the ride, and the bike is the tool to get there. Some bikes are developed to increase your performance, some are designed around a price point first. A Kona is designed to take a “Long Sweet Ride” first. Long is longer to some of us, but sweet is easier to define. A sweet ride gets you where you’re going with comfort, and joy. This is the Kona MO, and as part of the family – it’s ours as well. Some personalities stood out this weekend, and I was grateful to get chat with these amazing people.
