Antoine Bizet hits double backflip at Teva Best Trick, course designer Yannick Granieri wins

LES 2 ALPES, FRANCE July 12, 2013 – The Teva Best Trick Showdown got off to a shaky start with brisk winds containing all the action to the last booter on the Crankworx Les 2 Alpes Slopestyle course. The crowd appreciated the change as they got front row seats to all the action; once the athletes got going, energy was high and the stoke factor was massive.

Yannick Granieri (FRA) took home 2000€ with his technically difficult “flip double whip”. Another top contender for the spoils was Antoine Bizet, a rider who has been building himself a reputation as one of the top big mountain riders in Europe despite hailing from the flat lands of Versailles, France. His double backflip was full of style and amplitude but in the end it didn’t measure up to Granieri’s tech trick. The Teva Best Trick Showdown is a peer-judged event where the riders themselves decide who deserves the prize. Also, since the upper jump was taken out due to wind, the Teva Best Trick Showdown awarded the entire cash purse to one rider.

“This is the first time I have seen a Best Trick event where a double backflip was beat out by any other trick in mountain biking,” says Brad Jay, Crankworx Les 2 Alpes host announcer. “There was wind but the riders put on a show, running trains down the course and entertaining the crowd. That’s what I love about Crankworx.”

Granieri is the designer of the Slopestyle course in Les 2 Alpes and is intimately familiar with it. The course has been winning favourable reviews from the athletes dialing in their runs before the finals for the Crankworx Les 2 Alpes Slopestyle, presented by iXS on Saturday, July 13.

“We had a good day of practice today and it had a good result for me today,” says Granieri about his winning trick. “Every contest we do, we step it up. Winning in France is the best.”
