Antoine Bizet Qualifies for Crankworx Les Deux Alpes Final

LES 2 ALPES, FRANCE July 12, 2013 – Today crowds gathered and a live webcast transmitted the action from the Crankworx Les 2 Alpes Slopestyle, presented by iXS, Qualifications. Six athletes, half of them hailing from France, made the cut to compete with ten of Slopestyle’s top athletes in tomorrow’s finals, an FMB World Tour Gold level event.

The top ranked rider of the day, Anton Thelander (SWE), lived up to his nickname “Cleanlander” with a run exhibiting his extremely clean and smooth style. “Thelander has no sketches ever; he is so solid,” says Brad Jay, Crankworx Les 2 Alpes host announcer. “I have been saying this all year at competitions, he has the cleanest style of all the new riders.”

“The caliber of the riding from people who aren’t top names yet is insane. Tomorrow when we see these guys go against the big guys in the sport, it is going to be insane,” says Brad Jay. “The runs that we saw today in the qualifications would have won four years ago. I am very impressed with the French athletes.”

Tomorrow’s action in the Finals will see a stacked field take to the air with last year’s Les 2 Alpes Slopestyle champion and overall FMB World Tour 2012 Champion Brandon Semenuk (CAD), and current No. 1 ranked FMB World Tour rider and first ever X Games Mountain Bike Slopestyle Gold Medalist Brett Rheeder (CAD) joining an all-star cast of riders from around the world.

The start list is as follows: Tyler McCaul, Cameron Zink, Yannick Granieri, Anthony Messere, Thomas Genon, Sam Pilgrim, Brett Rheeder, Léo Delfour-Barsacq, Martin Söderström, Brandon Semenuk. The six riders qualified at the Crankworx Les 2 Alpes Slopestyle, presented by iXS are Anton Thelander (SWE), Antoine Bizet (FRA), Mike Montgomery (USA), Tomas Lemoine (FRA), Sam Reynolds (GBR), Mehdi Gani (FRA).

“Tomorrow I think we are going to see a lot more opposite tricks. That seems to be how things are progressing. As a rider – and in most action sports, actually – you need to be ambidextrous and trick as well ‘oppo’ as you do ‘regular’”, says Brad Jay. “If you don’t have ‘oppo’ tricks, you don’t get the podium.”
