DSC_7035Race Report by Kaz Shimizu

Asian Junior Championships since the first mountain bike. KAZUKI SHIMIZU (JPN) AKI Factory Team DH 1st.

Rain leading up to the race during the week made for a half-dry and partially muddy conditions. Warm sunny day during practices turned several sections into peanut butter…..but, there was a good amount of traction and I felt satisfied with the tires I used. The course varied for example, one part was gently sloping and another climbing up hill. I was able to keep both wheels on the ground and blaze hard.

The-switchThey’ve called it “the Great Canadian Gong Show”, and well, it is just that. A very cool idea though. The fellows at Bike Magazine have set out to test some 100 different enduro, freeride, XC and cruiser bikes in the wilds of Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton, British Columbia–during the heinous fall season no less! Whilst on a fall cycling tour myself, I managed to squeeze in for a couple of Squamish shuttles to see what I could see…

New World Disorder 10 Premier – Presented by Whatcom Trails Co-Op

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

chainless race 4It started with just a few. But with time, passion and foresight, Whatcom Trails Co-Op has developed into a local community that is willing to ride over anything put in its way. With a diverse foundation of members, the Co-Op has created a culture of support, caring, and respect for one another.

This past weekend was the most fun I have had in awhile, a friggin wicked local NWD 10 premier, followed by a balls out downhill chainless race. With months of planning put into this it was nice to finally get to the date and get the party started. WTC decided to do two showings, with one being an all ages show and the other a 21 and over. We had great numbers for both which is awesome because all proceeds go back to the trails we ride. It was good to see that parents had the opportunity to hang with fellow shredders and let their kids have fun watching the flick as well. With tons of swag from the many sponsors, I think a lot of the people had gotten something they didn’t have before the movie.
