The Mottolino Fun Mountain is proud to announce the “Swatch Shoot My Ride” project for the bike park season. Swatch and the Mottolino bike park teamed up to present you a special feature in Livigno: you can jump onto a huge air cushion or ride the “Chalet”-obstacle while being filmed by a static video camera, which streams your tricks not only on a big sized LCD screen at the gondola station, but also on the official Swatch website. From there you can spread it online wherever you want.

Kona Dirt Demo at Black Rock, Oregon
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009
Demo Report by Trevor Torres
I had the opportunity to go out and help the entity known as Jimmy James on a Kona demo in Black Rock Oregon. Black Rock is nestled amongst the Firs on the foothills west of Salem Oregon and is home to some of the sickest trails around. I was on vacation and was in Hood River a couple days prior getting my shralp on! The anticipation to get to Black Rock was intense, haven been the year prior. Oregon is like giving heroin to a junkie for a bike rider. Such an epic area for biking!

2009 USA Cycling national mountain bike championships in Granby, Colorado. Kona Factory team was there and put the pedal down to take three top fifteen spots in) the the Cross Country event (Ryan in 8th, Barry in 10th and Tonkin in 12) and a 4th place finish in the short track. (Trebon).
Elite men’s short track
With about 10 minutes to go in the elite men’s short track national championships race, Adam Craig (Giant) launched an explosive attack to catapult himself from third to first. Regular Joe’s Summertime Report
Monday, July 13th, 2009
Hi all,
I hope everyone’s summer is off to an amazing start! I was enjoying some great weather and riding in Vancouver and Whistler, it was nice to get some shred time at home in after my Bolivia trip. I got a bunch of north shore pedaling in, and some sweet DH days on the Shore and in the always fun Whistler Bike park.
I am pinned now for the rest of the summer, not much time at home for me now!

TEAM H&R Block-Kona Goes 1-2 in Alberta Time Trial
TEAM H&R BLOCK – KONA set the two fastest times against the clock at the Speed Theory Individual Time Trial held on Saturday, June 6th. Riders were treated to a light dusting of snow over night which added some additional stress on race organizers. Luckily conditions improved throughout the day, and the race went ahead despite conditions normally seen in December. The creative race course was set on a new portion of highway, not yet open to motor vehicles. Racers proved to have motors of their own as they completed three 10km loops of a NASCAR style race course including five 180 degree turns, at average speeds of 45km/h. In the end, the final two riders to hit the course set the fastest times in a field of almost 150 participants. Chris McNeil of Team H&R Block-Kona took first place, followed closely by teammate Gideon Krishtalka. Read the report in the Calgary Herald
Three riders in Top 10 Overall General Classification – Banff Stage Race
A massive bunched sprint closed the final stage of the Banff National Park Bike Fest, a small group had stayed off the front for the latter part of the 117 kilometre Tunnel Mountain Road Race, but were reeled in with 2 laps to go, setting the stage for an exciting 24-rider sprint to the finish. Cyrus Kangarloo (Team H&R Block – Kona) powered his way to second place.

The Witch Fist
Thursday, July 9th, 2009The yin and the yang of mountain biking hides around every corner of trail. With great joy comes an inevitable crash. Long down, super big up. Beautiful weather, a couple of flats. We lap it all up and we love it, being a mountain biker, you wouldn’t want it any other way.
The yin yang equation almost skewered me yesterday, riding one of my favorite trails in Nelson, British Columbia, the Paper Bag. After three days of rain the dirt was otherwordly. The bush that lush new green that seems to borrow from a fluorescent rainbow. I come bombing around the corner, loving every second and I encounter this–what I’m calling the Witch Fist. Pointed perfectly up the trail, aimed at neck height, it took me a few seconds to figure it was a snag. Stopping just in time, I couldn’t help but notice the fist shape of the wood with a nasty, witch-like face screaming for blood.
Somewhat freaky, we moved the snag to the side and continued on our merry, but now, somewhat nervous way. Is the golden gift of the Paper Bag graced with perfect dirt too good of a thing for the forest to relinquish without an attempt for retribution? In this case, a witch-fist plunge into the larynx? Or is it just an ominous warning? A call to remembrance that nothing great in this world comes without a price. Two ways to slice it, sure, but spooky nonetheless.
