It’s that time of the year where it is actually official, even though it’s an everyday occurrence for us over here at Kona. That means for all you out there not so inclined to swing your leg over your two wheeled steed to get to work, should give it a try. You never know. You just might love it.
here’s a link to fill you in a little better with what’s going on in Vancity. VACC
Hi Guys.
Hope your weekend’s went well. The weather was a little drowsy over hear on the island for the road champs but the weekend was good. Finished 3rd in the HC behind Hesjedal and Britton. Good confidence booster.
Made some tactical errors in the road race, missed the main break, then spent 2.5 hrs driving the chase pack. Emptied the tank but had a great training day.
Bastion CR was fast!!! Made a couple moves, won 2 primes, sucked a lot of wheels and managed to finish around the middle of the 24 finishers (out of 60′ish??).
Ahhh Whistler, they’re might not be anywhere on the planet where going down is so much fun. A-Line, Dirt Merchant, Boneyard, Garbanzo, it’s an endless trail of big smiles and mega good times. Kona has been there every gap jump, skinny and bermed out singletrack. As the original bike sponsor of the Whistler BikePark, Kona has learned a few things along the way, mainly, how to build high performance bicycles that can survive an onslaught of daily abuse. Check out the new 2010 custom Whistler bikes below, and get yourself to the Kona BikeParks page for great deals on tickets, rentals and accommodations.
Every year we build a custom fleet of Kona BikePark mountain bikes that are spec’d, painted and dialed in to take on the millions of vertical fun hosted by the 16 different Groove Approved BikeParks and Kona BikeParks located all over the world. The Patent Office sent us a letter the other day, letting us know that No. 7,712,757 has been issued, about 3 years after we sent in the first application.
Now, this isn’t Kona’s first patent. There’s probably a handful of people that remember the Dr. Dew brake lever extension from 1992 and just how big bar ends were in the early, pre-suspension days of mountain biking. Now that adjustable seatposts have come back in fashion (remember the Hite Rite?), maybe bar ends and the Dr. Dew will come back as well.
The bike season in Livigno is about to take off and all gravity loving mountain bike riders can look forward to the Swatch Bikepark Mottolino Opening on June 12th and 13th. The one of its kind mountain scenery in Northern Italy is often called “little Tibet” and offers 3.200 kilometers/ 2,000 miles of trails and GPS-tracks for mountain bikers and road cyclists (www.outdoor.livigno.eu). The unique bike destination owns a well-built infrastructure that makes it easy to reach by car (Munt La Schera tunnel is open for 24h since 2010) and by train. The Italian mountain resort provides various customized services and offers for all bike fans and vacationers. Livigno also hosts a selection of international bike highlights like the Giro d’ Italia, Transalp, the La Pedaleda Marathon, the Woman Tour of Italy, the 1st IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) “Flow Country” conference and the SuperEnduro race series in 2010.
“Thanks to the Near Southside’s Trinity Bicycles, we recently took out for review Kona’s new longtail utility bike, the Ute. The Ute features an extended back fitted with a wood cargo deck and space to attach some truly massive cargo bags. So, how does the Ute fair in city usage? Read on.
It’s fair to say that the Ute attracts attention. Every time we rode it, it tended to draw at least a few passers-by to ask questions or simply to take a closer look. The Ute has a pretty striking presence – not that of some carbon-fiber spandex racer, but more of an appreciation of clean, straightforward utility. One gets an appreciation of its sturdy elegance immediately.”
