KONA Local Tour 2010 J2 Kusatsu, Japan

September 4 & 5 – Kusatsu Resort. Our Kona Japan guy Tak has the following report on the Kona Local Tour…

It was an incredible day out with KONA Local tour J2 KUSATSU DH Race. enjoying the festive atmosphere, the great prizes on offer from KONA ( AKI Corporation Ltd ) and other sponsors ! Despite the toughness of the event everyone enjoyed it from the elites to the social riders – it is not often you get a really fun challenge! Here is what some had to say….

Jack Iles Wins U15 Western Open/BC Cup Final DH

Kona Grassroots rider, 13-year-old Jack Iles, finished the BC Cup U15 downhill season with a 10 second victory in the Western Open/BC Cup final  at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden BC on August 29th. The race was sanctioned by BC and Alberta federations and involved  the top riders from both provinces. The course provided one of the more difficult tests of the season for the U15s as the track contained several steep, technical sections made treacherous by the pouring rain. Jack was also named the BC Cup U15 overall champion with 4 wins in the 5 race series.  
 
In other results this season, Jack was first in the U 15 division of the  Fluidride Cup in Whistler. In his first Whistler Crankworx against older competition in the 13-15 age category, Jack had a very consistent week finishing 5th in the Garbanzo DH, 1st in the Enduro DH, 6th in the Air DH and 5th in the Canadian Open.  He is eligible to race in this category at Crankworx for the next two seasons. Atta boy Jack!
