Kona 2012 Entourage Proto Testing with Aggy

We sent Kona Team member Graham Agassiz into the wilds of his interior British Columbia homeland to see what he thought. With 170mm of super plush travel, ultra short chainstays and geometry that’s quick, intuitive, and totally committed to going down, the Entourage is all about progression Kona style. And if the feedback from one of the world’s best big mountain riders is any indication, we’re on to something good. Get the real lowdown from Agassiz and his fellow gang member, Kona’s Gravity Product Manager, Chris Mandell. Together they’ve crafted a jewel, one explained in detail through our newly released Proto Testing video, and in a Sneak Peek interview with Mandell where he breaks down the design philosophy and marquee features of the all-new 2012 Kona Entourage.

Dylan Sherrard – Shredding Hard For Ten Long Years

Birthdays have never meant much to me. Always seen as just another day, I brush them off and forget they even happen. But this year I am turning 21 and this birthday is special to me. Ten years ago on April 28th, I turned 11 and for my birthday that year I was gifted my first real mountain bike, a Kona Stuff. Riding that bike around the streets and trails in Whitehorse blew my mind at the time. It had a Marzocchi EXR comp fork with 4 inches of butter-smooth travel, super tough Ditch Witch rims and Shimano Deore mechanical disc brakes that were so strong they could probably have stopped a semi-truck. It was my dream come true to be riding a Kona bike and I rode it almost everyday. And I never realized it at the time, but every time I landed a no-footer and every time I wheely dropped a picnic table, that bike was changing my life.

Dave Turner – Pedal to the Metal Article from AG Outdoor

When mountain biker Dave Turner was contacted for this story, he was somewhere between Pakistan and China on a mission to find a mythical land high up in the Himalaya. Despite the logistical difficulties involved in interviewing a man currently living his greatest adventure, travelling unsupported and by bike, we thought this was a tale that really should be told.

AfricaBike: Transforming Rwanda

By Steve Madden, vice president of creative services and digital production development at Rodale.

I can’t tell you his name, but I can tell you the circumstances of his birth. His father, a Hutu, raped his mother, a Tutsi, after killing her family. During the rape, she became infected with HIV/AIDS. And she became pregnant. She bore the child and has raised him these 15 years. But she has never loved him. They live in the outskirts of a village in rural Rwanda, outcasts in a country that still bears the scars of the 1994 genocide that left some 1 million Tutsis dead and left countless others to deal with the trauma.
