2012 Preview – The All-New Entourage

Introducing the all-new downhill/bike park/big-mountain-specific, down-addicted destroyer: the Entourage. In essence, it’s a smaller-travel (170mm) Operator redesigned into a tighter package, with radically shorter stays for quick turns and great maneuverability in the air, and a low BB and slack HA for stability. Built with performance durability and worlds of fun and speed in mind, hit everything you would on the big bike, but fall in love with the Entourage’s more nimble nature. When it comes to going down, for Kona Team Gravity Rider Graham Aggasiz, this is the quiver killer.

Spec Highlights:
• Custom 170mm RockShox Domain R CL fork
• Avid Code R brakes
• SRAM X-7 rear derailleur
• Fox Van R rear shock

BC Bike Race – Day 2 Report from Barry Wicks. Crushing It

Barry Wicks is the best at keeping us in the loop when it comes to his racing exploits. We received this from his iPhone shortly after he and partner Kris Sneddon destroyed the competition at the BC Bike Race – Day 2

BCBR day two. Today was rad. Powell River has never before hosted a stage of BCBR, but it didn’t disappoint. A fast, slightly uphill 11km start section led into ripping, buff single track as we rolled our way to the high spot on course. By the first feed station we were a group of 6. Two euros, two solo guys and Kris and I. After a quick fluid check we bolted into the next section of trail. The deeper into the woods we got, the more technical the trails became. This suited us well, but not the euros. After following the French guy a little too long, Shep and Sager had grow a bit of a gap on us. Coming through the second feed station Kris and I realized our error and turned on the gas. Their 1:30 gap quickly disappeared and we were once again groupo compacto at the sharp end of things. Kris led us down the final timed “super d” section at about a million miles an hour and we blasted through town and across the line in just over 2 hrs, well ahead of the second place team and far ahead of the predicted finishing time. Now were headed down to the ocean to do a leg ice treatment and get ready for more single track slaying tomorrow. Until then, Nasty out

Grassroots Rider, Antoine Bizet takes second place this year at FMB tour stop in France. Chatel Mountain Style is one of the few stops on the tour that incorporates “Big mountain’ style of a course as opposed to the more manicured slope-style or dirt jump courses a lot of us are used to. Nice Run Antoine. Sending it on the Operator.

BC Bike Race – Day 1 Report from Barry Wicks

BCBR day one. We knew today was going to be fast. The first day of any stage race always is. Everyone wants to make their mark early and put everyone else on notice. Today was even more that way because we had some euro pro’s in our midst, and everyone wanted to see if they could actually ride single track or not. It turns out they can. Mostly. After a ballistic fire road sprint into the first flat section of trail, a small group formed at the front. Kris, unfortunately was not in it. Opting to try a wide (wrong) line in the dash to the trail he had fallen behind about 30 people. Luckily he is such a single track slayer that he had bridged up to our pack of 7 by the start of the main climb of the day. Read More
