Kona and The Path Bike Shop in Tustin, California are the main sponsors for the first ever MTB race in an Orange County park this weekend. It is called the Okole Stuff Race (the promoter owns a chamois oil co.) and it runs this Saturday the 16th. The good folks at the path have worked with park officials to bring this event to fruition which is a sign that parks in California are stepping up to support MTB. One of the best parts about this race is that it is held on trails at Santiago Oaks park, adjacent to the starting area at Irvine Park. The Santiago trails are buffed out single track in a variety of difficulties that have really grown with rider attendance over the past year. These trails have berm turns, jumps, drops, technical sections, flowy stuff, etc and it was all built with durability and ease of maintenance in mind. Really great trails.
