Shop of the Week – Centre City Cycles, Escondido, California

Great things come in threes. And great things are happening for Centre City Cycles in Escondido, California. April 1 marks the shop’s first anniversary, April 8 Centre City Cycles holds its first club ride, and April 14 Centre City Cycles and Kona host a Kona Demo Day at Lake Hodges.

Celebrating its first anniversary April 1, 2012 is something shop owner Marc Day says he’s done against the odds.  “We’ve done it against predictions of global economic uncertainty and despite soothsayers and so-called prophets warning about 12/21/2012 “doomsday” and “end of the world” events.” Read More

Dylan Sherrard: Life In The Loops – Gentlemen Along The Road

I haven’t lived in the loops for a long time, but a long enough time to call it home. In the time I have been here I’ve seen a lot of friends come and go. Some were just regular people without much interest in anything too particular, some were strange people in an endearing way that made me feel fortunate to have met them, some were riders like me. And in rare instances, a few key individuals have appeared in my life who were somehow all three of those people at the same time. When I was first a visitor to Kamloops I didn’t know much of the place. I was like any other visitor trying to scratch the surface of all the great things that reside here. Fortunately, I met the correct individuals who would show me everything that I was looking for.Read more

The first World Cup is over and done with and Australian racers Mitch Delfs & Connor Fearon are home and happy. The Kona riders were excited to get the season started, after just finishing the Australian National Series. Mitch has been over in America doing some training to get his riding where he wants it and Connor has been destroying the juniors in Australia to become the Australian Junior Champion.

All Mountain Addict Rides the Cadabra: “A perfect bike for Enduro racing”

Since the appearing of the Magic Link, we wanted to test one of these, especially after watching the way Karin Amour rides with it! On paper it seemed to be a quick bike and in the trail it proved to be so. One of us had a Kona as the first full-suspension bike and it was a trusted one, the Kona Cadabra keeps the same enjoyable riding fun.

Inside Portland, Oregon, American’s Cycling Utopia

Fresh from the Kona Productions Crew, How Bikes Make Cities Cool – Portland, is a five-minute mini documentary that explores the thriving bicycle culture resident to one of North America’s most progressive metropolises. Filmed entirely by bike, with support from longtime Kona Portland dealer Sellwood Cycles and resident Team Kona athletes Erik Tonkin and Matthew Slaven, we spent the better part of a week talking to commuters, following kids to school and capturing the friendly vibe and funky nature of a city that embraces self-propelled commuting at the heart of its identity. Trailing the documentary are two short clips that highlight the style and function of Kona SimpliCITY bikes, the new Roundabout and MinUte.
