“The $150 price tag is at least $50 less than I expected…Since receiving this bag I’ve used it every day with a smile on my face – something pretty rare for a bag snob like me” – Eric McKeegan

Becky Gardner is a Kona Grassroots ride that originally hails from Beacon, NY but she’s currently taking a break from fashion school to ride and work in CO at Kona dealer Telluride Gravity Works.
When asked how she felt going in to the race, Becky said, “I knew that I would do well in the race, but I was a little nervous because it was my first time back on the bike in 2 weeks after a bad crash that put a chainring through my leg. I wasn’t going to race at all because I couldn’t get the day off from the shop. In the end I decided to race on my lunch break since the mountain is minutes away. I was on my Operator and all the other racers were on endure bikes, so I knew I had to make up time in the gnarly sections. I only got one practice run in but I ended up winning by 10 seconds.”
Congrats, Becky!
Forest of Dean has had a bit of loving, heres some shots from my visit on the jump line with my girlfriend (Entourage)

“Name: Tore Haslemo, Rye Sport Club My Bike: This is a lightly modified Kona Ute 2009, used as a transport for drinks and nutrition in long competitions. The bike is used to supply the Express team from Rye with bottles and nutritions in long races like Trondheim-Oslo. Loaded with 60 bottles it can safely and effectively supply the whole team with two full bottles to every rider – at speed. This is done within a couple of minutes i speeds around 40 km/h”

Antoine Reports: I just won the happy ride contest at la Poma bike park in Barcelona today!! I came here just for fun before the Redbull Rampage, but had some good runs and I’m so stocked, this is the first victory of my 2012 season!
Last week-end the team raced in Bouillon, Belgium for the fourth round of the Nissan DH Cup. On a great natural track which was pretty dusty and loose, Kristof Lenssens came first elite in the seeding run, Gregoire Pazdziorko first in junior and Bertrand Gilles was in eighth position.
For the race, Bertrand was the first of the team to go. After a clean run, he took the hot seat and would eventually take fourth place in the elite category. Gregoire Pazdziorko was the next to go and rode down straight to the win in the junior class, an agressive and very spectacular run which was good for a second place overall. Kristof Lenssens was ready to defend his position in the elite class but almost lost control in one of the many off-camber turns of the track. He couldn’t make up the time he lost and came third.
The next round of the Nissan Downhill Cup will be on september 28th in Huy. Next up, team Kona/Barracuda is going the IXS European DH Series in Totdnau, Germany.

From Alex: I just wanted to let you know that I had my first win in the professional down hill class over this past weekend, and was also able to wrap up the overall win for New Hampshire state championships. It was really exciting to finally make it happen.

From Pinkbike: We love riding and racing in Mongolia. It is an experience like no other. So much so that we have a hard time trying to convey to people the depth of the experience. That’s where videographer extraordinaire, Aaron Larocque, comes in. The Victoria, BC contingent of Team MBC have been working with Aaron on projects on Vancouver Island over the past couple of years and knew he was the perfect guy for the job. Not only is he a talented videographer, but a pure adventuer at heart. He was ‘in’ at the first mention of Mongolia. You can check out his recap of the 2012 Mongolia Bike Challenge p/b Orbea here and stay tuned for a full ‘behind the scenes’ release in the coming months! read more
