This past weekend was the second race of the five Southridge USA Winter Race series in Fontana CA. Riders from a variety of Kona shops were there including B-Rads Bikestop, Pedals BS, The Path BS and Velo Pro BS and competed in a variety of events from XC, Super D and Downhill.
The Fontana series is one of the longest race series in the country which has been held for over 24 years by Donnie Jackson and his family. This event is a true testament to the commitment Donnie has made to MTB community, Big name riders have started their careers here, guys like Sean Palmer, Eric Carter, Waylon Smith and Aaron Gwin. The G´s Summercamp is for all the young guns from 10-17 years, 6 days, full board, with coaching and guiding, max. 10 persons/coach. The camp is all about riding great trails with a big smile on your face… we do coaching and guiding and we take pictures of all the riders – so all our customers get great action shots. 
Adrenaline, alcohol and love make you say and do (or at least promise to) some pretty daft stuff. Just think about how this trinity of influences has changed the direction of your life over the years, for better or worse. Maybe the scars on your body are the result of amorous encounters but it’s more likely they’re from crashing bikes or doing bonkers stuff on the way home from the pub. 
25 year old Mortimer joins an exclusive list of UK DH riders on the Kona Grassroots racing program. Working closely with TT Cycles in Bradford On Avon, Dean is concentrating on events in the Forest of Dean, Aston Hill and the Pearce series, on his Operator. Dean’s been busy with the guys at TT, they’ve gone for something a little different in the footwear department, custom Nikes – we’ll wait to see how long they last…
