Extended Lava Dome Service

This comes from our good man Mike, from Olson’s Cycles in Forest Grove, OR.

“Spent Friday at a bike event on the campus of Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma, Washington. My son, Joe, is a student there and also works for campus safety. When he was helping set up the campus safety display, he brought out one of their campus safety patrol bikes. It was a 1996 Kona Lava Dome. Still in service. Not only did they have the one. All seven of the patrol bikes are 1996 Lava Domes. Still in service.”

  1. I have one of these, purchased new at Mountain Mania in Spearfish, SD. It wore a Mag21 for a lot of years but now has the rigid back on and recently got a pair of linear pull brakes. It has easily 20,000 off-road miles, rode and raced it for years. It now faithfully serves as the reliable “spare bike”.
