It seems like it was just the other day that we brought you Byran’s super rad Honzo Dream Build. Well, he’s teamed up with Pedal Driven in Sanford, FL and gone and done it again, building this Super Villian Shonky. I mean really, other than the Hulk, every green and purple superhero is a bad guy. “As much as I loved the Honzo and every door is opened for me over the year I’ve had it,  I started to find myself more and more attracted to free riding and the dirt jump scene here in FL, especially out at The Grapefruit Trails in Palm Bay Florida.”

I owned a BMX bike as a kid but looking back, I was too chubby and scared to ever learn anything cool or progress. I had one pretty bad crash off a kicker, and that was the end of my younger riding career… This Shonky was built so that I could revisit my dreams of doing huge jumps and learning all the tricks I never wanted to attempt as a nervous little dweeb.

I’ve only ridden it twice now but the difference it made in my confidence is already helping me clear jump lines, that before, seemed near impossible. I’m extremely excited to see where I go with this bike and how I progress as a rider the more I learn to ride these very different styles of “trails”

Bryan has gone deep on the purple and green theme with the Shonky, a Race Face crankset, purple chainring and KMC Oil Slick chain kick things off, while little accents like a purple Hope seat collar, valve caps and rotor and brake bolts keep the theme going. Manitou’s Circus Expert forks handle suspension duties.

Purple Hope Pro 4 hubs are laced to Spank Spoon 32 rims complete with green nipples. The bike rolls on the classic Timo Pritzel designed Table Top tire from Schwable. Braking is courtesy of SRAM’s budget Level T stopper as well as a sexy floating purple Hope rotor.

The cockpit doesn’t escape the green and purple theme, with a green set of Ergon grips finished off with purple Hope end caps. The bar itself is a high rise Spank Spoon mounted to a Race Face Respond 50mm stem.
