Kona Grassroots rider Leah Maunsell wins the FirstTracks Enduro in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland

This weekend myself and Dad made the four hour journey up to Rostrevor for the FirstTracks Enduro. We headed out for practice Saturday morning on the five stages. The transitions were quite steep and the weather was quite warm which is unusual for Ireland, I took the opportunity to use my full face helmet to get used to racing with it in preparation for La Thuile EWS in two weeks time.

IMG_4615Race morning arrived and it was time to hit the trails. The transition to stage one was long and not too rewarding if you ask me. But hey it had to be done, so I just tried to sprint as much as I could and pump everywhere I could to keep some good speed. The remaining four stages had lots of steep natural trails which I love. Stage five was my favourite stage. It had so much flow and was full of sweet corners from top to bottom. It was so fast and one mistake could cost you a lot of time.IMG_4617

All in all it was a successful weekend. My Process 153 DL was flawless all weekend and took me to the top spot in the Pro Women’s category. I also won the prize for the biggest winning margin. Big thanks to Glyn O’ Brien and his team at FirstTracks for a great event.IMG_4619
