This weekend was the final round of the Irish Gravity Enduro Series in Djouce Wood, Co. Wicklow. It was a short and compact loop at 20km with five short steep punchy stages to race.
Saturday practice was wet! All the trails in Djouce are natural and had lots of exposed roots and plenty of surface water on them by the end of the day. Two complete sets of clothing were needed to practice comfortably. Practice went well for me and I was happy with all of my line choices.
Sunday came, I had one eye on the race win and one eye on the overall series win. I had to win on the day to take the series overall as I had missed a previous round due to travel. With a dry night and a dry morning, track conditions had changed since practice and what had previously been wet mud had turned in to real sticky mud. I rode smart all day and took a clean sweep of five stages and also bagged myself the overall series title. I couldn’t be any happier with that.
I am happy to say that I’ve made it through the whole season mechanical free with my Kona Process 153 DL. What a bike!
