Sunday 20th April saw three of our team racing, Leah Maunsell was racing round 3 of the Munster xc series in Ballyhoura Mtb centre, Leah who is a U16 national rider has been racing this series in the adults “baggy shorts” category to improve her fitness and racing knowledge and to her credit has being doing really well finishing in third and second at the first two rounds. This round however was Leah’s home trail and she powered to first place on her new KONA BIG KAHUNA destroying the men and women around her.
While Leah was heading for her first win aboard her Big Kahuna her brother Jonathan and team mate Alex were also racing but they were in Mallow Co Cork racing round 2 of the IDMS series. Jonathan was racing his PROCESS 153DL and finished 10th in Pro Men. This was a very credible result as the trail was very tough and tricky and those on full DH bikes had a nice advantage, Alex was racing his PROCESS 134DL and he finished 5th in Senior men, again this was a super result given the track being as tough as it was.
Leah, she set her sights beating the other lady and on chasing down the U16 men, this she did very well winning her class and finishing 5th in the men’s class as well.
Sunday 27th April saw Leah again racing this time at Round 1 of the national xc series. Leah here will be racing U16 ladies for the season and unfortunately only one other entered, this did not deter Well done Leah, we’re thinking your really liking the KONA 29ers.
Next up for the Team is Round 2 of the national xc series and the Irish Cycling show, both on the weekend of 10th-11th May.
Big thanks to our sponsors, Kona Bikes, MBW bike shop, GrRANA Energy Europe. Without your support none of this would be possible.
