Portuguese Kona Grassroots 2013 Team – Race Report #1


The team Clube BTT Valongo / LongusBike 2013 season started this weekend in the Regional Championship of Minho on the 3rd DHI of Barrosas-Felgueiras. Despite the weather, the race took place throughout the weekend with very cold, wet and windy, but beside of this, our athletes showed great sportsmanship and desire to win.

Filipa Peres, the National Champ once again showed that she deserves the title that won before, despite the crash during Saturday practice due to lateral winds, raced to victory on Sunday by winning the qualifying race with time of 2:22,797 and improving her time on the final run, finishing with 2:17,486 ensuring the 1st place. So this way Filipa kicks off the season taking the Kona Operator to the highest place of the podium.

Tiago Luís have been nine months of away from competition but started Big, confident in their abilities, and determined to achieve their goals by showing that is able to give battle in the 15th qualifying run with a time of 1:54,545 and improving his time on the final run finishing in 13th with a time of 1:51,463.

João Peres kicks off this season confident in their abilities, and determined to achieve their goals, with some technical problems, still got the 25th in qualifying run with a time of 1:59,343 and improving his time in completing the second run in a 15th place with a time of 1:52,147.
