The big 2015 US National cross country series for spandex-clad mountain bikers (aka USA Cycling ProXCT) concluded this weekend with Round 7, the Catamount Classic, held in Williston, VT. While his brethren Kris, Barry and Cory were lighting things up at the opening stages of Singletrack Six, Spencer ventured East to re-stock his depleted maple syrup stores, and also animate things in the race, as usual. He took a strong 4th on the day, earning him 10th overall in the series. The ProXCT kicked off on March 1st in Austin, Texas. Spencer competed in 5 of the 7 events, including the season opener, each time aboard his Hei Hei Supreme. From the cactus of Texas to the sun of California to the mountains of Montana to the maple trees of Vermont, both rider and bike sailed from start to finish in fine form, and notably without a single flat or mechanical. The season ain’t over yet, though. Next stop is Round 4 of the UCI World Cup in Mt. St. Anne on August 3rd, where Spencer will get some DH lessons from his teammate, Connor, then compete in Sunday’s XC.
