Round one of the Oregon Enduro Series came to my home town last weekend. Hood River greeted 300+ racers including 100 pro men and women, quite the stacked field. The trails were dry and dusty leading up to the race and all that changed by race day. Heavy rains made for some challenging conditions. Seven stages over the weekend highlighted some of the best local riding in the post canyon area. I really did not know what to expect since this was my first race in the pro category but I was hoping for a top 15. Conditions turned out to be a mix of perfect grip to uncontrollable slip. I ended up with an endo on the rock section in stage two. Another crash on stage seven caused my bars to turn 45 degrees making it hard to maneuver. Overall I ended up 19th, which I feel good about given my mistakes. I think top 15 is certainly attainable which I achieved on several stages. Now I know some of my weaknesses and can start getting ready for the next enduro. As always at the enduros, I rode some killer trail on my Satori and shared some high fives with new friends. Stoked to see my friend Tyler Horton get 4th place!
