From Rad Racing team manager Jim Brown: Rad Racing NW continues to have a fantastic Cyclocross Season. The past 2 weekends racing with the MFG Series have brought both ends of the spectrum with regards to the weather and conditions.

Lake Samammish on Sept 29 was deluge of rain and peanut butter mud. The day was highlighted by 14 year old HS Freshman Lewis Whiley destroying the SR Category 4 field. Other wins on the day included Annie Rosser and new team member Layton Meyers. Solid 2nd place rider were put in by Brayden Buchanan, Gideon Bender and Jack Spranger. It was definitely a classic NW Cross day.

This past weekend found us with sun and sand at Silver Lake in Everett. No surfing but lotsa hot Bike Drivin’…..

First of all, 13 year old Ben King stepped up to the plate and took second in the senior Men’s 4 category. Calder Wood and Matt Wilkinson also cracked the top 12 in that race. Then….. RAD junior racers stepped up to the line for the junior categories and Gideon Bender decided it was time to throw down. The kid had the fasted time out of ALL the junior categories, even crushing the 15-16 year olds. New rider Layton Meyers took second to Gideon in the 13-14 category, and also posted a time that would have made the podium in the 15-16 group. In 10-12, Kyle Dickinson and Jack Spranger took 2nd and 3rd respectively.

12 year old Aynslee King raced the senior Women’s 4 and finished on the same lap as many of the Cat 3 riders.

The biggest story of the day, though, was 13 year old Scott Funston who decided to make his debut in senior Category 3 by crushing the entire field. Way to make a splash, Scott!

Over in the Inland CX Series, Ciara MacDonald topped all riders in her category with a big win in Sandpoint Idaho.

Back to Seattle Cyclocross Series this coming weekend to tear up an old golf course….
