Alex Ryan Reports: The Knot MTB Race – Round 1 of the Southern Classic MTB Series took place this weekend in Poinsett State Park in Sumter, SC. The 10.2 mile laps and fast singletrack made for a all out two hour race. The course consisted of extremely fun, tight and flowing singletrack. At the start, I held back due to the long race ahead and also this being the first mtb race of the season. This was a test to see how well I had spent my winter.

After entering the woods around 8th or 9th, I slowly picked off riders until I found myself in 2nd position. After 15 minutes or so, I put in an attack with 2 other riders in follow. About 15 minutes later I found myself out front with a gap on 2nd & 3rd. The laps seemed to fly by as the 3rd & final lap approached and after a little over 2 hours I was able to grab the win.

As always, the King Kahuna ripped the trails! Super PUMPED for the next race!
