Stock takes the series win aboard his Process 153 DL. It’s been a great year racing this series on home soil, every round was different and explored a wide variety of terrain and landscapes over 5 rounds. Great tracks and greater banter with #allthelads made each event one to remember. From running through unrideable bogs in freezing temperatures at the 1st round in South Wales to the short dusty downhill tracks of the final in Shropshire it’s been a great ride. I didn’t have such a strong start taking a 6th but didn’t lose sight of my ultimate goal of winning the series. Coming into the final round leading on the awesome 2014 Process bike, I was confident and worked out I needed 3rd to take the series.
Eastridge, Shropshire (the final round) is Neil Donoghues back yard and he’s often the man to beat anyway so I rode a steady race with no big mistakes and had a lot of fun on tracks I used to race downhill on as a youth. Unbeknown to me I was lying 2nd going into the final stage and feeling strong… ‘5 seconds’ said the starter.
A few deep breaths and I was off but a few pedal strokes later I snapped my chain! So I pumped everything like my life depended on it and laid off the brakes, it was the best I rode all day! I had to get off and run twice in the flat field at the bottom but still got a good time and it was enough to hold on to 3rd with a 4 second gap back to 4th so it was pretty close in the end but I won the series so I’m happy with that and want to do it again for 2014! Thanks to everyone that made it possible.
