For his first year in the elite category, Bertrand Gilles (Barracuda-Kona) has already become Belgian Champion after winning the race held today in Malmedy. Kristof Lenssens finished in 2nd position making a perfect result for the Barracuda-Kona team. With 1.000 meters long and with a vertical drop of 155 meters, the course was totaly different as last year. A short but steep and technical track with lot of roots sections and some spectacular jumps. After finishing 3rd in qualifications, Bertrand had a strong final and was 6 seconds faster than in the qualifications! Enough to take the win, 2 seconds ahead of his teammate Kristof Lenssens. This is the fifth straight Belgian DH championship win for Gilles, every title coming on a Stab Supreme. Atta boy Bertrand.
