This weekend saw the Kona cyclocross squad dominating races on both coast of the United States.

Portland hero and male nurse Sean “boobs” Babcock took out a big victory in the Cyclocross Crusade series opener at Alpenrose dairy in Portland, Oregon. Sean took down current USGP series leader Ryan Trebon, and current Canadian Champion Chris Sheppard to claim victory on a slick, challenging course.

On the other Coast, Helen Wyman continued her winning ways at the GP Gloucester, taking victory both days in changing conditions. Helen caps off a successful US start to her session, with the victories at Gloucester she won 9 out of the 9 races she entered over her in the land of the Yankees. Helen is headed back over to Europe now to prepare for the first round on the world cup held in Pizen, Czech Republic on Oct 15th.

Barry Wicks managed to regain some early season form, coming out 9th on Saturdays C1 event in Gloucester in a stacked international field. The effort took its toll though, and he was only able to muster 15th place on the rain slicked course Sunday.

Team mechanic/assistant trailer park supervisor Demo Dave kept everyone warm, clean and in high spirits as he cleaned up the messes everyone created and talked 4×4 tech with the locals. Next Up for the Kona Cross Team is the second Round of the USGP of Cyclocross in Ft Collis next weekend, and Team Riders Sean Babcock and Barry Wicks and ready to improve on their results from the first round in Madison, WI.

Until next time, keep the wheels in a somewhat vertical orientation and don’t forget to get rad!
