FINAL EWS RECAP SCOTLAND
THE KONA GRAVITY TEAM WRAPS UP THE EWS 2021 SEASON
Roots, Rain, and Anything Else You Could Slip On
The last EWS round in Finale Ligure was long and filled with rocky ridges. This time, the course in Scotland was short, steep, and full of wet roots and muddy sections.
The weather was unsurprising in that riders were faced with conditions that were constantly changing and difficult to feel prepared for. Even when the sun did come out, the blinding rays of the wide open made diving back into the forest feel that much darker.
Miranda Miller battled through the ups and downs of the bittersweet course clocking in at a speedy 10th during the Pro Stage and an 18th overall.

The athlete experience

They saved the best for last! Even with some soggy and boggy weather, Scotland came out to cheer everyone on. The trails were really fun, better in the wet, although not the thick mud. Dupelle and the pressure washer had their work cut out for them! Nice to hear your name being shouted again from the side of the track and have eager fans in the pit. My race started well with the Pro Stage but I’d be struggling all week feeling a bit under the weather and dealing with some back and neck pain from hitting trees and the ground. Turns out 31 really doesn’t feel like 21! Seems this season I’ve had lots of really great moments but none of them have come together for that final result I want. Enduro is a whole other beast that can’t really be properly understood until experienced. Thank you everyone for another amazing year.

Conditions were definitely moist and tire choice could make or break you. Too knobby, and you lose your much needed momentum. Not knobby enough, and you lose what little traction you had.

When the sun did come out, it illuminated the slickness of the terrain.

Miranda Millers digs into the wet turns to make it to the next one.
