I left from home and cycled 30km to the Galway Wind Park. This is an area in the mountains outside Galway City where they have installed 69 wind turbines to produce electricity. Each turbine is 90m high with 50m long blades.

When they finished the construction, the road network was opened to the public along with walking trails and wheelchair accessible routes. There is a round 75km to explore on a bike and the only vehicles you’ll encounter are the occasional vans driven by the turbine maintenance crews.

In typical Irish style, I had sunshine, rain, hail, wind sun, hail, sun rain, wind sun and rain, all in the first few minutes but it didn’t stop me from enjoying my time on my bike. Overall I covered 80km with 933m of climbing.
