The Kona Endurance Team is back for 2022. From lung-busting gravel grinds, or mountain biking in places they’ve never heard of, to a full season of domestic ‘cross, gravel, and marathon racing, they’re ready to dig in, ride hard, and capture all of the excitement that can be found on two wheels.

“For 2022 I am most looking forward to throwing my hat in the gravel ring. I have raced gravel but this year it’s going to be more of a focus of mine. It’s a new challenge. In years past, I have focused on shorter MTB and CX races, 1-2 hours. This year the gravel races will be 130 miles! 4-7 hours! Bring on some discomfort.” – Kerry Werner

The Kona Endurance Team is made up of Kona veterans that know exactly what it takes to make the most of every adventure. Team ringleader Barry Wicks is back with a full agenda of rides all across North America, along with three-time 24hr World Champ Cory Wallace. The dynamic ‘cross-dominating duo of Kerry Werner and Rebecca Fahringer will be widening their scope, and in addition, to select cross events, they will also be attacking a slew of North American gravel races. Together, the four riders make up a crew that is champing at the bit to push the limits of where bikes can go, how hard they can be ridden, and how much fun is actually possible while inflicting, what seems to mere mortals, some sort of self-induced punishment.

We get the feeling they’ll be crossing many a mountain pass, bikepacking to locations that seem impossible to reach, racing the races that scare most people, and leaving dusty contrails in their wakes as often as possible. If it sounds like a challenge, this crew is up for it.

“I’m stepping deeper into the world of gravel (and unintentionally, mountain bike racing), so I look forward to seeing what I can do there. Also secretly hoping that a long season of long races means a lot more time for play and less worrying about messing up a strict training structure. Oh no… am I… having fun on bikes!?” – Rebecca Fahringer

I’m looking forward to spending time with the team in Oregon, Kansas, Canada and beyond. The team trips and spending time with the Kona family are a highlight every year. Heading to Italy to defend my World 24HR title will also be exciting as it has been a few years since the last championship in Brazil in 2019.” – Cory Wallace

“I’m looking forward to seeing all my friends and riding bikes in cool new places.” – Barry Wicks
