Yesterday, 13th April 2014 saw the return of the much anticipated Irish Gravity Enduro league. Round 1 was held in Ballinastoe woods in Co Wicklow on the east coast of the Irish republic. MBW-KONA Racing had 6 riders in the 350 strong field. The 2 pro classes look to be very hotly contested this year with very strong riders entering both the men’s and women’s, we had 3 ladies and 1 male racing pro’s and 2 lads racing in the 14-18 age class. In the ladies Leah Maunsell on her 134DL took the victory by 0.11 of a second from team mate Shona D’arcy on her 153DL giving us a 1-2 on the podium, their team mate Michelle Muldoon who is just returning from a nasty shoulder injury finished 6th just over 1 minute behind Leah and Shona.

In pro men Jonathan Maunsell just like Michelle finished 6th just over 1 minute off top spot but less that 30seconds of the podium, pro men this year looks like it will be very tight, Biking.ie rider Gav Carroll set the pace yesterday and this will place a target on him for round 2 in 1 months’ time.

In the 14-18age class Joseph Clancy impressed yet again finishing 11th while Cillian Thomas had an absolute nightmare race smashing his chain device early on and then dropping his chain over 10 times during the rest of the race, he finished 19th in the end happy to gain more valuable experience.

May 17th-18th for Rd2 in Ticknock forest in the Irish Capital, Dublin. This venue always gives us some fantastic racing with stunning views over the Capital. Hopefully we can be successful there too, Come say hi to us if your there.

Huge thanks to our sponsor’s Mbw bike shop in Moycullen, Co Galway, Kona Bikes and GrRana Energy Europe. Without your constant support and help none of this would be possible, so thank you.
