Day three is now in the bag for Kona Endurance Team Rider Kerry Werner and he’s held on to the leader’s jersey for another day. Today wasn’t without its excitement though. A couple of over the bars moments for the leaders, a bike-hating horse, and a slick trail in the morning kept things spicy.

A little overnight sprinkle had the trails slick in the morning. But by the time we cruised through the start loop and headed back up into Pisgah proper the conditions were ripe for ripping through the trail. Carson and I got away early and kept the pace high from the start, too afraid that the other was going to attack at any moment. I held on to his wheel and let him drag me around all day, not losing time, and we finished together. I stay in the leader’s jersey with two more days to go.”
