Squamish is known as the “Mountain Bike Capital of Canada”. With over 200 kms of single track, Mountain Bike Magazine even rated Squamish as “one of the top 25 wildest and most exotic places to ride in the world”. From gentle cruiser trails of the Estuary, to epic cross-country, to the gnarliest of downhill descents, the trails of Squamish will quickly become your favorite place to ride. At a 40 min drive from Vancouver, an hour away from Whistler, 24h flight from Capetown, yes, Squamish is in the center of the world ride map !

For this reason, Squamish hosts some legendary mountain bike races every year, including:
Test of Metal
Ore Crusher
Gear Jammer
JABR (Just Another Bike Race)
BC Bike Race (Squamish Day of this race is a competitor favorite)

The weather in Squamish is typical for coastal areas. One day it can be blue skies and sun and the next it can be like a monsoon. Squamish is a rainforest after all. For mountain biking, this is a good thing, the trails wind through massive rain-forests that are awe inspiring.

Squamish is located half-way between Whistler (30 minutes to the north) and Vancouver (40 minutes to the south) and still has the small town vibe and friendliness.

Some of the famous trails in Squamish are:

Power House Plunge:
A technical cross-country style downhill. This is one of the premier classic Squamish trails, not for the faint of heart, this one will have you climbing and descending through some of the rockiest and steepest terrain through the upper portion and then will mellow in the middle just enough to ease up on your thoughts of going airborne before testing your mettle again on the bottom section with tight twisting switchbacks.

Credit Line:
Credit Line has been the hottest trail for the last five years. Most riders coming from out of town to ride didn’t care what they did as long as it included Credit Line at some point. Credit Line descends (mostly) for 2 kms. Drop in and begin traversing along a historic road bed for 350m. A brief technical descent leads you to a short steep climb which is merely a prelude for what’s to come. Shortly after this climb is a seemingly straightforward descent but, beware, it can get rutted and dusty below the built-up rock roller

Full / Half Nelson:
Half Nelson in 2012, thanks to Redbull, was extended to start from the Garibaldi Park Road. Now it is called Full Nelson. This trail is often compared to A-Line in the Whistler Bike Park and is also referred to as a downhill pump track. Don’t be intimidated by those comparisons though, this trail has been built with every rider in mind. The beginner/intermediate rider will enjoy a lengthy descent crossing several wide bridge features, cruising around fun berms and rolling up and down the transitions of the many jumps (none of which are mandatory).

At Sea to Sky Adventure Company we rent out high-end all mountain bikes, including the 2013 Process and the 2013 Satori, a 29’er. All of are bikes are kept in perfect condition.
