The folks at The Path Bike Shop in Orange County, CA recently built this fully custom 2020 Sutra LTD for Daniel Walling who has already put some good miles on it in Oregon! Daniel really wanted to build a modern gravel version of the dream hardtail he wished he could have afforded in the early 2000s, incorporating parts from storied brands like Chris King, Thomson, Brooks and White industries.

He also selected modern components from contemporary brands, including Spank Vibrocore handlebars and wheels, Camp and Go Slow bar tape,  and SRAM hydro disc brakes, and beefy WTB 50mm Venture skinwall tires.
Custom bags made by Daniel himself round out this truly stunning bike.

“Huge thanks to the folks at @thepathbikeshop particularly Tani  (@taniwalling)  and Brian (@brianmblair) for helping me build up my dream bike! I’ve put a couple of thousand miles on it already and it’s riding like a champ!

Legendary brand White Industries provide the go forward with G30 cranks and 38t ring.

Daniel stuck with the WTB venture 50s and Sram Rival real mech and brakes from the stock bike although he opted for a E*13 TRS Plus cassette and a set of Spank vibracore hoops.

A Spank Industries Flare 24 Vibrocore bar and some rad Camp And Go Slow bar tape kick off a very cool cockpit.

While a Thomson Stem and Chris King Headset complete it in style.

Once broken in, the Thomson seat post and Brooks Swift saddle combo provide some serious comfort for long days in the saddle.

Oh we almost the Chris King headset.

The build is finished off with a a King/Lezyne combo of bottle cages. The handlebar bag is Ron’s Bikes Fab’s chest, the frame bag, and coffee holder are both homemade by Daniel.
