Oliver tagged us on Instagram a while back and his rad looking army green 2014 Honzo caught our eye. The build kit on this bike has been passed down from a few previous bikes. It was first on a Process 111 followed more recently by a Hei Hei DL, both of which are rowdy short-travel bikes that Oliver loves. “I wanted more mayhem, more zest, so I swapped the parts over to an older Honzo frame to fill my desire for arm-pump and butt-pucker!”
Oliver’s Honzo rolls on Easton ARC 30 rims laced to a Profile Elite rear hub and a DT Swiss 350 Front hub and wrapped in a Maxxis 2.3” Minion SS and a 2.5” Assegai. The drive train is a pre-production prototype XX1 Eagle groupset with a 32T Wolftooth ring. Shimano XT Trail pedals ensure no watts are lost. The seat post is a KS Lev DX with a WTB Devo sitting up top.
Things kick off in the cockpit with a -2º Works Components Headset slackening the 68º head angle to 66º, well that’s before adding the 160mm Rock Shox Pike RCT3, (with three tokens, sagged out a bit to keep the front end a little lower). The SRAM Guide RS 203F/180R brakes and Sensus Death Grips are mounted to a matching Kona bar stem combo.
