Alex wanted to build a bike with absolutely zero compromises. No coil-like suspension but a real coil fork and custom-tuned coil shock. The result is this stunning Process X CR frame kitted out with some extra bling bits and pieces, mixed in with some classic hard-working parts. “Every single bit in this build was chosen by me, I even picked out the bearings for this build!”
The build begins with a workhorse Race Face Aeffect-R 170mm crankset with a 34t chainring.
A Shimano XT chain mates up with an SLX 10-51t cassette, and a Shimano XT rear derailleur takes care of shifting. Shimano polymer-coated shift cables are utilized for ultra-smooth shifting action.
Up front Alex has spec’d a 170mm Formula Selva Coil fork with custom graphics. The axle-to-crown measurement is over 10mm shorter than with the original Fox 38 so the head angle is also a bit more trail-oriented.
A 160mm Bikeyoke Revive dropper post looks after up/down ness and an Ergon SM Enduro Comp saddle with oil slick rails keeps things comfy.
The wheels are Race Face ARC 36 carbon rims laced to XTR hubs with brass nipples and double-butted black Alpina DB1.7 spokes.
Both front and rear wheels are shod in Vittoria Mazza Trail 29×2.6 graphene tires.
The Hope V4’s combined with a 220/200 rotor combo are strong enough to make a full stop any time.
A Cane Creek 40 headset keeps things running smoothly up front.
Alex’s bike is finished off with a custom Ride Wrap tailored protection kit.
