A perfect day for the first event of the festival the RockShox Dual Compressor; a fast paced head to head race with dual berms, jumps and some open sections for overtaking. After a few quick practice runs I was ready for qualifying, I set the fastest qualifying time providing me with the advantage of going straight to the semi finals where I won my heat and progressed to the final to take the win.

Friday night saw a huge crowd gather at the pump track on Village Green for one of the most competitive races of the weekend. The newly built pump track providing the ultimate showdown. Each rider had the opportunity to try and set the fastest qualifying time with the top three women making it to the finals. We were given  a second run to decide the final winner. I set the fastest qualifying time for the ladies and was therefore the last competitor to race in the showdown. I had a relatively clean run posting the quickest time, enough to take out the event.IMG_2651

The Maxxis Flow Motion Cup was the third event of the weekend. A single timed run down the Kosciusko Flow trail; the track is around five kilometres long with a series of berms, rollers and doubles which would prove to be the ultimate endurance race. With over 350 competitors on the track it was super dry and blown out. This would make things interesting for racing.  Being the highest ranked rider I was out last,  and not knowing the times of the previous  female riders I pedalled as hard as I could trying to make up time, crossing the line into first place.

The Toyota Australian Open, the fourth and final event of the Cannonball Festival weekend.  3.5km of downhill track descending 600 vertical metres through some technical rock gardens, wide open ski runs with some man made features. The track was running fast despite it being very dry and blown out. After setting the fastest qualifying time on Saturday I was the last female out of the start gate.  My run was relatively smooth and consistent which saw me cross the line in first place, ten seconds clear of second.IMG_4904

I am beyond stoked to take out four from four events across the weekend. Crowning me Queen of the Cannonball Festival.

Tegan’s teammate Connor Fearon didn’t do to bad either, coming second to long time rival and good buddy Troy Brosnan in the DH and as well as that, he convincingly took out the Whip Off’s with his signature style.
