From Kona California Man, Kelly Steelman…
We completed our third Kona Jump Jam in San Luis Obispo over the March 3rd weekend and we are leading into the final lap at the notorious Path Bike Shop in Tustin, CA. Orange County on Sunday April 18th.
The first three events that were held at Coates Cyclery in Pomona, Velo Pro in Santa Barbara and Cambria Bikes in San Luis Obispo went very well. We’ve had over 50 kids participate in the Kona Jump Jam Jump Clinic with JC teaching the kids on a specifically designed long tranny jump with lots of spectators out to check out JC doing some tricks over the super huge portable gap jump that he made. The format has been great as kids take part in a clinic to learn how to weight and position their bikes and bodies into and out of the lip on a safe box jump, then we move it to the level ground to learn no footers and then take it back to the jump to actually pull off tricks. The riders are stoked. Then we get a little action from the big jump with 360’s, Supermans, and back flips from JC. After some lunch we wrap up the event with a shuttle run to some local trail for a downhill run.
The last event is next Sunday the 18th at The Path in Tustin from 10am to 2pm. We will run the jump clinic demo and serve lunch and beers. C’mon out!
