55489558-Pisgah+Monster+Cross_131The Pisgah Productions Monster Cross was this past Saturday, and Supergrass Roots rider Kaysee Armstrong placed second behind the leader by one minute. Monster Cross is part of the Queen of Pisgah Series and is the fourth out of five races. Kaysee is currently sitting third in the overall standings behind Carey Lowery and Brenda Simril.

Kaysee rode her Kona Zone Two with 700 X 34 Hutchinson Piranha CX tubeless tires. Monster Cross consists of riding 70 miles with 11,000’ of climbing on gravel and paved road. The race has some of the highest elevation sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway and over 40 miles of the toughest gravel roads Pisgah has to offer. Kaysee sat first for over half of the race till Carey caught her on the parkway and made a pass. Kaysee was able to descend down from the parkway and catch back up to Carey, but on the last bit of gravel climbing Carey pulled away and put in a little over a minute on Kaysee by the finish.
