Alex Ryan reports: This weekend was the first round of the newly formed North Carolina Southern Super-D Series. The course was located at North Carolinas newest mountain bike park Rocky Knob in Boone, NC. The Super-D included 2 race runs that sent racers down a technical, rocky switchback descent with high speed straight a ways and multiple rock gardens. The day started with Lots of climbing to the start of the Super-D run. After an event free first run, Alex was sitting in 2nd place with a time of 3:52. Alex’s second run of the day was slightly slower with a 3:56, still allowing Alex to score a 2nd place for the day with his initial run. The winners of the Rocky Knob Super-D was a reigning Downhill national champion of the past with a blistering time of 3:48. The course suited the Kona King Kahuna extremely well! Lots of pedaling and massive amounts of flowing singletrack allowed the king Kahuna to excel to new levels!

The following day was round 4 of the Southern Classic Mountain Bike Series in Wilkesboro, NC. After a hard effort the previous day, the intense heat and lots of climbing allowed Alex to score a 4th place after a hard fall on the first lap. The King Kahuna is a very versatile ride, whether its cross-country or a crazy super-d, the King Kahuna rocks!
