Kiwi-based Kona Super Grassroots rider Elliot Smith made the trip to Rotorua over the weekend to race the second round of the 2W Enduro series. The 600+ event attracted a stacked field of New Zealand rippers and even a few EWS pros too. After posting a bunch of podium finishes in his local Enduro Series, Elliot has been traveling to a few of NZ’s high-profile races, notching up a top 10 finish at Nelson’s Mammoth Enduro in the Pro Men category and a 6th place stage finish at the first 2w Enduro.

“After my performance in the first round of the 2w Series, there was definitely more to be desired. With what was shaping up to be a top-ten finish, it all came crashing down with a series of chain jams and eventually a derailleur explosion. The second round this weekend proved to be way more fruitful (as a result of me putting down a clean race), finishing in 9th overall and  2nd in U21, which I was more than happy with. Key takeaway; don’t break your bike!”
