Sunday was a great day for the Mock Orange Bikes Pro CX Team at the Cyclocross National Championships in Asheville, NC. For the second year in a row we were the only team with three riders in the men’s Elite race. It was a wonderful day on home soil and the cheers for the local boys were amazing. The guys rode like warriors and we are proud of their results. Travis Livermon was ranked high enough to receive the 7th call up and start on the first row, he had a bad crash that caused him to limp to the pits on a bad wheel and dropped him back to 11th, he eventually worked his way back up to 8th finishing just 1 second behind 7th place rider. At the end of the day Travis was 8th, Tristan Cowie moved up the whole race starting back 50th call up to finish 14th. Alex Ryan rode strong as well and wowed crowds with his technical ability eventually finishing 27th, all on the lead lap.
The icing on the cake is Travis was just selected to represent team USA at the World Championships January 31st in Zolder Belgium! Alex will finish the season this Sunday at the NC CX Series finale of which he has won 8 out of the 9 NC races he has started this year and leads the series going into the last even as well as being NC/SC State Champion. We sure have come a long way since we crammed three bikes into the back of a little VW and drove up to Baltimore for our first UCI race back in 2010.
