Romain Paulhan reports – As you may have already seen on our Facebook pages (Romain Paulhan, Julien Piccolo, KONA – X1 Racing Team) we were in Lourdes this weekend for the first round of the DH World Cup.
With a full team and Julien almost recovered from the injury he sustained in Millau, and with the whole staff behind us, we discovered a new splendid track, which required full engagement and was, fast and very technical.
With his injury still on his mind Julien didn’t ride at 100% and narrowly missed out on making the top 80 riders to qualify by just 5/100ths of a second. My qualifying run was going well until mid-track when I fell on the landing of a jump in one of the rock gardens, leaving myself outside the qualification cut off as well.It was blow to the team, but seeing Connor Fearon super pleased with his first round on 27.5 wheels gave us some comfort. We can’t wait to try out the medium wheeled Supreme Operator at the next World Cup in Fort William in Scotland in early June.
