Revel Consulting/Rad Racing NW has had a couple of big weeks.
On June 23rd in abysmal conditions, 14 year old Erik Pitkanen and 16 year old Kyle Sweeney took on the 6 hours of Capital Punishment MTB race and won the overall 2 person category. Yes….. these youngsters slayed all in the “unofficial 6 hr world championships”. Under such conditions the tread of choice was Schwalbe Nobby Nic’s in respective 26 and 29 versions. Weapons of choice for bikes were Custom Rad Kula 26” Hardtail (Erik) and Hei Hei 29r (Kyle). Nice work boys…..
On the same rainy weekend the State Championship Road Race was contested. Scott Funston took time off of his mountain bike to win the Boys 10-12 Gold Medal. Lewis Whiley and Wyatt Mason took Silver and Bronze respectively in the Boys 13/14 race. In the hotly contested Boys 15/16 race team strategy paid off with Revel/Rad able to neutralize some very strong riders, Tyler Tangen took the Silver medal for the efforts.
This past Saturday Andrea Casebolt and Kyle Sweeney both took victories in the Galena Grinder MTB race in Ketchum, Idaho. Andrea, Kyle, Scott Funston, Ben King, and Jake Therrian will be representing Revel/Rad this week at USAC National MTB Champs in Sun Valley, keep your eyes out for updates on these guys.
Yesterday was the Brad Lewis Memorial Criterium in Seattle. Lewis Whiley battled hard with no teammates in the 13/14 race, he rode smart and was able to outfox the other 2 riders in the breakaway for the win. Lewis has made amazing progress this season on the road, each week he learns more and gets better. Our 15/16 crew put the hammer to the riders from JL Velo in their race, they continue to gel as a unit and any team that comes against them better bring their “A game”. Our crew rode aggressive and smart, this performance brought Tyler Tangen across the line 1st and was closely followed by teammate Ayden Young.
Last but not least Conor Klupar continues his build up for USAC Track Nationals. He has been setting PR in his events and last Friday night won the Cat 1/2 Scratch Race at the Marymoor Velo-drome with all the big guns in attendance.
Thanks for all of the support that makes this great stuff happen.
