Saturday, October 3rd is Take a Kid Mountain Biking day, an annual day that seeks to introduce the joy of mountain biking to the next generation. Created in 2004 and recognized by the U.S. Congress, TKMBD is officially celebrated every year on the first Saturday in October. More than 100,000 youth have discovered and celebrated the joy of pedaling two wheels on dirt at TKMBD events, and many have gone on to become passionate riders, volunteer trail advocates and even high school mountain bike racers. Local IMBA chapters will be hosting virtual TAKMB events and you can sign up through your local trail organization. IMBA is encouraging people to take kids riding on Saturday in lieu of the traditional big events. Share pictures and stories from your day with the hashtag #TKMBD. IMBA has also created a toolkit to help share images and stoke of kids riding. You can find that tookit here.
