Thomas takes 4th place on his Process 111 DL – Last Weekends UK Gravity Enduro Series round 1 at Ae forest was awesome! Even the sun came out, which is rare here in bonnie Scotland. The course itself was a mix of natural hand cut trails and national level downhill runs. Seeding was on Saturday and was run on stage 5, a national DH track back in the day. I managed to seed in 10th with a steady run, 13.79 off the lead. I had some work to do to make up time on Sunday.

Race day rolled around and I was looking forward to it. After stage 1 I had clawed back some time and took 5th, stage 2 was more of an effort on the pedals, I grabbed 4th snatching more time back. Stage 3 was one I hadn’t ridden until the race run and it cost me. I overshot one of the corners and went into a ditch. I must have lost over 5 seconds. I came down the rest of the stage to finish 3rd, 2 seconds back, I would have won the stage without that mistake, but thats racing. Stage 4 consisted of deep ruts, rocks and nasty wet roots. I kept things clean and decided to try and push on for a top result, but the ground pushed back and I went down hard on my newly healed pinkie. I regrouped and got back on my bike to finish the stage in 6th. Lastly stage 5 again. I wanted to improve on my first attempt in seeding and did so coming down in 7th .38 seconds faster than my seeding time.

I finished 4th overall in senior, a solid start to the series with some points in the bag.

Thanks to Kona Grassroots and Hart’s Cyclery for their great support this season
