It was cold and just got colder. Sunny and dry for once in Portland for this years USGP final. Day one started with Kona’s, Ryan Trebon, leading the charge right up to the last lap finishing third after a crash. “I’m pretty bummed with third after towing those guys for 90% of the whole race.” This position at least kept him in the leaders jersey going into day 2. Barry got a flat after riding the majority of the race with the leaders.
Day 2 was now sitting close to 0 degrees celsius but again cold and clear. Very unusual for Portland this time of the year. Both Barry and Ryan we’re not feeling their best going into the second day of racing and were at a disadvantage. Barry got a flat after riding the majority of the race with the leaders and Ryan suffered from a stomach thing from the night before and just couldn’t put the hammer down and finished 5th. Tonkin had a great race but started from the tail end. “I passed a lot of people this race and it felt great.”
All said and done, Ryan walked away with the USGP Series title again. This was his fourth title win and fifth for Kona. Our fingers are crossed for next weekend in Bend, OR where Ryan returns to defend his title as US champ in his hometown. Kona will be there with bells on. Cow bells that is.
