The picturesque town of Lichtenfels-Trieb, nestled in the heart of Germany, played host to an exhilarating enduro race that attracted riders from all over Germany. The challenging terrain and breathtaking landscapes provided the perfect backdrop for this event. If you missed it, let’s dive into the race and relive the excitement!

The course  was a true test of skill and endurance– a mix of steep climbs, technical descents, and tight singletrack sections.Stretching roughly 30 kilometers, riders had to navigate through dense forests, rocky trails, and open fields, demanding a versatile skill set from each participant.

Shortly after the start line, the course got down to business. Each stage presented highlights and challenges– one after the other. While Stage 1 and 4 reminded us of Whistler bike park, Stage 2 was a long demanding stretch. The demand of a hard pedal leaned into a more enduro style. Stage 3 started with a flat pedal section but then switched to a technically steep section in the forrest, rough soil with loose branches, hidden roots, and slippery ground. Tires and their pilots were constantly pushed to the limit.

One last push to Stage 5 was a real “pedal to the medal” way to finish.

In the end, my previous XC training for the 12h race in Külsheim paid off and I earned the second box on the podium. The icing on the cake was Matthias earning another top ten as well! The cherry? We had fun!

Thanks to everyone at Baboons and the local bike club who are responsible for making those events happen. We’ll be back!
