Kona Super Grassroots rider Elliot Smith has been on the 2022 Process X CR DL since August, he’s ridden it to the top of plenty of local podiums in his hometown of Wellington, New Zealand, and this year it’s accompanying him on his second stint at international enduro racing. His bike began life as a stock Process X CR DL, but has seen a number of parts swapped out and moved from his last race bike, many from long-time sponsor, Squamish BC brand OneUp Components.

The Process X CR DL comes stock with a dialed drive train in the form of some SRAM GX AXS bling. Elliot has upgraded the chain ring to an Ochain. The Ochain allows for 6-12° of tunable rearward rotation between the chainring and cranks, this small amount of give allows the chain to move backward without taking the cranks with it reducing pedal kickback, which in turn allows suspension and braking to perform better.

Elliot’s running his Process X in the long setting and is running the stock GX AXS rear mech..

There’s absolutely no need to change the RockShox Zeb Ultimate fork.

SRAM’s Super Deluxe coil shock replaces the stock Super Deluxe Ultimate air shock.

The braking is taken care of with the stock Code RSC’s. The lock-on grips are from ODI.

The whole cockpit is from OneUp the 42mm stem holds a OneUp 35mm rise Carbon E handlebar, the ebar is slightly more compliant than the standard carbon OneUp bar. OneUp’s new V2 EDC tool is housed in the steer. The V2 requires no threading of the fork’s steerer. A Chris King headset (now on its third Process), still spins like the day he pulled it out of the box.

Levers.

The Process X CR DL features one of the deepest seat post insertions around. Enough for 6’2″ tall Elliot to run OneUp’s 240mm drop post on a size large Process X.

Always reliable Maxxis keeps the bike stuck to the ground when it matters. The classic Minion DHR II / Assegai combo in DoubleDown.

Chris King ISO Hubs are laced to Stans Flow EX3 rims.
The bottle cage is the Morse Cage from WolthTooth/King Cage and features more than normal fore/aft movement, OneUp’s smaller volume EDC pump also houses a Co2 canister under the end cap.

After running a borrowed set of Shimano Saint pedals to an EWS100 podium finish in Whistler last year ELliot has kissed flat pedals goodbye for racing, and he even bought his own set.
