MIRANDA MILLER TAMES KICKING HORSE
A last-minute decision to travel to Kicking Horse for the Canadian National Champs paid off for Miranda Miller this weekend. The Kona Gravity rider dealt with the blown-out and changeable track over the weekend and rode to second place earning herself a silver medal. Miranda wasn’t the only Kona rider who made the trek to Golden, BC. Squamish riders Coen Skrypnek and Elly Hoskin both made the trip with Coen finishing eighth in the highly competitive Junior Expert field while Elly placed fourth in the Junior Women. Riding the high of his recent video release, North Vancouver local Colby Pringle found himself standing on the podium in the expert men category in third while the legend that is Jacob Mullen finished off the weekend with a 15th, also in expert men.
These were the first Canadian National Champs since 2019 and came after an intense week of racing thanks to the compressed Dunbar Cycles Summer DH Series.
The athlete experience
Was a bit of a last-minute decision to go to Nationals but super happy that I did! There were around 300 racers and a ton of young women and people doing their first DH race! Cool to see the sport growing again. The track was pretty rough and one line, meaning it just got more and more blown-out, making it a challenging race! My run was good, a mistake at the bottom took me off track a little but nothing crazy. Always fun when I get to ride with Casey (Brown) and awesome to share the podium with such rad women.
After a heavy crash in practice, Squamish’s Coen Skrypnek rode to a solid 8th place in the Junior Expert category.
As always, thank you to our team sponsors for their support.
